Outlook Email Recovery

MAPI services (Messaging Application Programming Interface) sometimes creates problem in MS Outlook, which is installed with Corporate and Workgroup option.

MAPI services error creates trouble when you compose mail, send mail, receive mail, check for new mail, send a fax, or create a new Calendar item in Outlook. Other email actions, like deleting items from the Calendar, Inbox, and Contacts might also get troublesome. All your Outlook work stops when you get MAPI error.

Moreover, if you attempt to open the Outlook, you receive the following error message:

“The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, start Outlook again.”

If you look for the reason behind this error message, you will find that exceeding size limit of PST file has been the culprit.

But not to worry you can resolve this issue by using “Allow upgrade to large tables” feature. This upgrade feature is available in all versions of Outlook 97 and above versions.

In case “Allow upgrade to large tables” is not resolving the issue, then follow the series of solutions and look for positive Outlook PST file recovery.

• Empty the Deleted Items Folder – you can first of all, go for emptying the ‘Deleted Items’ folder. as this folder holds on lots of space and increases the size of PST file.
• Use the Inbox Repair Tool – Use Scanpst.exe utility (Inbox Repair tool), which scans the corrupt PST file and fix up the error issue.
• If Inbox Repair tool is not solving the problem, then create a New Personal Folders (.pst) File and then create a New Profile. After that install a new set of MAPI files. Finally, reinstall Windows.

Hope that the above troubleshooting steps resolves the corrupt PST file issue and eradicates the MAPI services error, which has been caused due to oversized or corrupt PST file.
